📚 DanMachi Light Novel Franchise Hits Major Milestone
The official DanMachi account recently announced that Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? has reached over 20 million copies in circulation worldwide. This record-setting milestone makes it the first GA Bunko title to achieve such a feat.
In celebration, the franchise revealed that three new volumes will launch this October. These include the 21st volume of the main series, the 16th volume of the Sword Oratoria spinoff, and a new Familia Chronicle story focused on Asfi. Notably, Volume 21 will kick off the series’ final arc.
Additionally, fans can enjoy a bonus short story titled Is It Wrong to Seek the True Identity of the String?, available now on the anime’s official site. The light-hearted chapter explores the mystery behind Hestia’s iconic blue ribbon.
🏙️ A Decade of Adventure in Orario
DanMachi takes place in Orario, a city where gods live among humans. Beneath it lies the Dungeon, a vast and dangerous labyrinth filled with monsters. Here, adventurers form Familia—groups led by gods—who train and explore the Dungeon in search of treasure and glory.
The story follows Bell Cranel, a rookie adventurer with big dreams. As the only member of the Hestia Familia, he relies on his goddess for support. Along the way, he finds himself caught up in conflicts that blur the lines between mortals and the divine.
🌍 DanMachi From Light Novel to Global Phenomenon
Author Fujino Omori launched the light novel in January 2013 after winning the Grand Prize at the GA Bunko Awards. Since then, the story has reached global audiences, with translations available in more than 10 languages.
The anime adaptation began airing in 2015 and has expanded into a five-season saga. Fans have also enjoyed OVAs, a full-length film (Arrow of the Orion), and the Sword Oratoria side story anime.
