🎉 It’s Official: Makeine Season 2 is Coming!
It’s official—Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! is coming back with a second season! The news dropped during a special event themed around the Tsuwabuki High School Literature Club, and fans of the chaotic rom-com are already buzzing.
The anime first aired in July 2024 and quickly found its audience with its twist on the typical love story formula—where instead of romantic victories, the girls keep losing. Yep, losing. And somehow, that made the story all the more entertaining.
🔍A Quick Recap: What’s the Deal with Makeine?
Based on the light novel Make Heroine ga Ooisugiru! by Takibi Amamori and illustrated by Imigimuru, the series follows Kazuhiko Nukumizu, a pretty average guy who ends up surrounded by a bunch of unlucky-in-love heroines. After watching one popular girl get rejected by her childhood crush, Kazuhiko finds himself caught up in a domino effect of romantic tragedies—each more awkward and hilarious than the last.
Crunchyroll streamed the first season internationally under the title Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!, and its unique take on the genre clearly hit home with viewers.
🎬The Team Behind the Madness
Season 1 was produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Shōtarō Kitamura, who previously worked on titles like Kaguya-sama: Love is War Ultra Romantic (as an episode director). The script was handled by Masahiro Yokotani (Re:Zero, Free!, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai). Yū Saitō assisted with sub-character design work.
The voice cast brought a ton of personality to the screen, with performances from:
- Shūichirō Umeda as Kazuhiko
- Hikaru Tohno as Anna
- Shion Wakayama as Remon
- Momoka Terasawa as Chika
- Minami Tanaka as Kaju
⏭️What’s Next?
While there’s no confirmed air date for Season 2 just yet, the continuation promises more tangled love stories, more emotional L’s, and possibly a few unexpected W’s for the heroines. Or not—it is Makeine, after all.
